1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrell 26, died May 3 when his patrol vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Musayyib.

He joined the Army in June 2004 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in September 2005.

He was an infantryman assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment.


Spc. Matthew T. Bolar 24, died May 3 when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad.

He joined the Army in September 2004 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in November 2005.

He was an infantryman assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment.


Sgt 1st Class Jesse B. Albrecht 31, died May 17 from wounds suffered when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle in Iskandariya.

He joined the Army in June 1993 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in September 2005.

He was a motor transport operator assigned to E Company, 725th Brigade Support Battalion.


Cpl. Coty J. Phelps 20, died May 17 from wounds suffered when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle in Iskandariya.

He joined the Army in September 2004 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in September 2005.

He was a legal specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 725th Brigade Support Battalion.


Spc. Victor M. Fontanilla 23, died May 17 from wounds suffered when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle in Iskandariya.

He joined the Army in October 2005 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in April 2006.

He was a motor transport operator assigned to E Company, 725th Brigade Support Battalion.


Sgt. Ryan J. Baum 27, died May 18 from wounds suffered when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small-arms fire in Karmah.

He joined the Army in July 2003 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in June 2005.

He was an emergency care sergeant assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment.


Cpl. Ryan D. Collins 20, died May 18 from wounds suffered when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small-arms fire in Hamiyah.

He joined the Army in May 2005 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in December 2005.

He was an infantryman assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment.


Sgt. Shannon V. Weaver 28, died May 21 from wounds suffered when several roadside bombs detonated near his vehicle in south Baghdad.

He joined the Army in August 2001 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in January 2005.

He was a combat engineer assigned to A Company, 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

He joined the Army in January 2001 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in October 2005.

Cpl. Michael W. Davis 22, died May 21 from wounds suffered when several roadside bombs detonated near his vehicle in south Baghdad.

He joined the Army in April 2005 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in October 2005.

He was a combat engineer assigned to A Company, 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.


Sgt. Robert J. Montgomery Jr. 29, died May 22 from wounds suffered when his dismounted patrol encountered a roadside bomb in south Baghdad.

He joined the Army in January 2005 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in June 2005.

He was an infantryman assigned to 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment.
